Designing a dashboard for national judging activities

Designing a dashboard for national judging activities

Our objective is to understand how Creative Arts users currently perform their tasks and pain points encountered and workaround they have to use to accomplish their duties.  We focused on capturing major pain points, workarounds (use of non-streamlined methods and tools), and opportunities to optimize the user experience to ensure a smooth process of the national judging activities.

UI Enhancements

Visual design, and cognitive model difficulties were expressed during the study. The manner in which information is presented and the information architecture on the current Sharepoint didn't match the expectations. For example:  An easy way to add entries and ensure they are under the appropriate categories.

Technical Solutions

An intuitive way to upload and preview documents. Providing a system to manage, share, and present end result scoring. Simplifying the future state system for entering data and the ability to make edits as needed.

Judging Experience

Being the most impactful area and task to be done, in addition to being visible and indirectly used by external users, the judging experience is built to respond to the needs and enable the chairperson and the judge to focus on the entries to rate.

Prototypes demonstrating UI flow

Prototypes demonstrating UI flow

Before unveiling the prototype of our future state, we embarked on a series of interviews with 15 users. Our aim was clear: to assess usability and effectiveness. We delved into the daily lives and tasks of our users, pinpointing pain points and inefficiencies. These interviews not only guided the design but also unearthed issues within the existing system, enriching our understanding.
